Jay loved teaching and and he loved sharing knowledge, especially with young people.  Jay was also a prolific artist who encouraged others to express themselves creatively.

 

In addition to being a highly-regarded artist, an extremely giving teacher and a most excellent friend, Jay Person was a good man. Warren Artist Market honors Jay's memory with the establisment of the John A. Person Art Award to be granted to a young person who demonstrates both artistic talent in visual arts and a pride in African heritage and African American culture.
