Jay Person - Visual Art

I draw and reflect from an African art form which is so-called primitive art . . . African art is the product of a conscious and thoughful maturity.  - J.A. Person

Jay Person was a prolific artist who greatly enjoyed mentoring students and youth artists and meeting with others who believe, as he did, in the importance of arts education.  Jay's work has been exhibited in the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Art in Brooklyn, NY; the October Gallery in Philadelphia, PA, the Hayti Heritage Center in Durham, NC and at the 11th annual Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration in Hilton Head, SC. He was a member of the Kerr Lake Art Society, the United Arts Council of North Carolina and the Warren County Arts Council. He was also a beloved member of Warren Artist Market. Sadly, we lost Jay's physical presence when he passed away in the late summer of 2013.

Dear Jay, your time with us was way too brief. Rest in peace, dear brother, rest in peace. Much love, WAM
